Around 100 businessmen and 5,000 residents were attracted to a promotional fair of agricultural products in Hai'an, Nantong, which was held from Dec 20 to 22, with the turnover of the fair exceeding 300,000 yuan ($27,484).

Nearly 60 enterprises participated in the fair, along with their characteristic agricultural products, such as rice, eggs, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and more. 

A total of 10 rice enterprises and growers promoted their rice one by one and also brought electronic cookers to allow the participants to directly experience their products. One family farm signed a rice deal valued over 3 million yuan at the fair.

Five enterprises were granted the geographical indication of Hai'an rice, and prizes for outstanding rice enterprises were awarded. Eight strategic cooperative agreements were also signed during the fair.

Cao Jian, the manager of a local family farm, said he sold more than 4 metric tons of rice this time and expressed hope that more activities like this can be held to help increase farmers' income.

"This is a good harvest year," said Zang Zhong, director of Hai'an's bureau of agriculture and rural affirs. "The activity is expected to promote Hai'an's agricultural products and help residents buy more high-quality products at low prices. In the future, we will further cooperate with the media, promoting local agricultural products to enter larger markets."
