Tongzhou hosts modern agriculture forum

A summit forum on modern agricultural technologies was held in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Nov 29. Agricultural experts from around the province came together to discuss new agricultural technologies and products.

A total of six industry-university-research cooperation agreements were signed at the summit forum. The agreements involved the comprehensive utilization of fresh maize, professional training for farmers, and more.

Tongzhou district is in the process of upgrading its agriculture industry and it has already established two provincial vegetable centers, seven provincial agriculture demonstration centers, nine modern agricultural industrial parks, and Jiangsu's first workstation for academicians specializing in agriculture.

The district has been honored with provincial awards for the past seven years due to its rapid agricultural development.

Several agricultural production centers, covering a total area of 185,000 mu (12,300 hectares), have also been set up, and leisure agriculture and rural tourism are seeing strong development as well.

After the summit forum, over 30 academicians and experts visited the Zhouji Green Expo Garden, located in Tongzhou.

Zhang Hongcheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Yangzhou University, said that Tongzhou has developed a high-quality modern agriculture system, and more middle and high-end rice is expected to be produced in the district.
