A promotional conference for agricultural projects was successfully staged by the Nantong government in Shanghai on April 26.

More than 20 agricultural projects were showcased at the conference in a bid to attract investment, with 16 agreements signed on the spot, worth 2.7 billion yuan ($401 million).

In addition, eight agricultural companies from Nantong were designated by the Shanghai Vegetable Group as major vegetable suppliers to the city.

Nantong’s agricultural industry has maintained close ties with Shanghai, and nearly 50 percent of Shanghai’s agricultural products sold there were sourced from Nantong, earning more than 20 billion yuan.

Officials said the city would continue to improve its agricultural infrastructure, industrial structure and services to ensure the high efficiency and quality of its supplies.

More than 1,500 types of agricultural products from Nantong were also on exhibit and sale at the Shanghai International Agricultural Exhibition Center from April 26 to 28.
