Chen Xi, a native of Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province and a member of the provincial blind football team, was recently selected to be trained for China's Blind Football Team.

The intensive training will take place at the Guangdong Provincial Disabled Sports and Art Center to prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The 18-year-old has loved football since he was a child and was selected as a member of the provincial blind football team in 2015.

He served as a substitute player at first, but became a starter after only one year due to his impressive skills. He has showcased his abilities in several competitions and has received high praises from his coach.

During the 10th National Games for Persons with Disabilities held in 2018, Chen was one of four players honored with a sportsmanship award.

"Chen is energetic and flexible, making him stand out among Jiangsu's new generation of blind football players," said the coach of Jiangsu's blind football team.

Chen is expected to qualify for China's Blind Football Team and compete in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
