Haimen earns national recognition for social development
Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, ranked 21st among China's top 100 county-level cities for its progress in building a moderately prosperous society.
According to a list released by the China Information Industry Association and a third party think tank in Beijing on Nov 21, Haimen moved up two spots this year, putting it at eighth place in Jiangsu province and first in the province's central-northern region.
The list was based on comprehensive evaluations of the cities' economic development, living standards, cultural development, environmental protection efforts, and urban governance.
The Chinese government aims to build the country into a moderately prosperous society in all aspects by the year 2020. In response to this mission, Haimen has placed a lot of importance on promoting high-quality development.
It also ranked 14th among China's top 100 counties in terms of industrial development on a previous report released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

In addition to industrial development, the city is striving to enhance people's living standards by improving the natural environment, strengthening public security, upgrading public infrastructure, and optimizing government services.
