Nantong foreign trade valued at $29.6b from Jan to Oct

Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, saw a total of 208.07 billion yuan ($29.59 billion) in imports and exports from January to October, according to statistics released by the local customs department on Nov 21.

The figure was the fourth highest ever recorded in Jiangsu and accounted for 5.8 percent of the province's total foreign trade.

Statistics reveal that trade with European markets have seen significant growth, rising 30.1 percent year on year, while trade with ASEAN countries and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative have also risen steadily at rates of 7.3 and 5.8 percent, respectively.

From January to October, exports of electromechanical and textile products rose 3.2 percent and 2.6 percent to 58.85 billion yuan and 39.9 billion yuan, respectively, while exports of petrochemical products saw a slight decline of 4 percent.
