Tongzhou boosts airport economy
The Nantong Airport Industrial Park in Tongzhou district serves the city of Nantong in Jiangsu province. The city is shifting its focus on the development of the airport and cross-border e-commerce industries through its air transportation and aviation materials.
The park provides integrated services responsible for the production of aircraft components, aircraft maintenance and disassembly, as well as aviation logistics.
CAMECO, a company based in the park which deals with retired aircrafts, recently signed an agreement with Honeywell Aerospace Group, a famous high-tech enterprise in the world's aerospace industry, at the second China International Import Expo.
The park has cooperated with leading enterprises in the cross-border e-commerce industry and exports to nearly 10 countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia.
A new terminal, covering the building area of over 50,000 square meters, is now fully operational with an annual passenger throughput of up to 5 million with 11 boarding bridges.
Within its six-year of business in the park, SF Express has gradually established an aviation logistics network, connecting the city with major economic areas in China, such as Xi'an in Shaanxi province, Shenyang in Liaoning province and Kunming in Yunnan province.
Since the beginning of this year, a further 7 projects have been negotiated and are set to be established in the park, including an air transportation center of JD.com with an estimated investment of 20 billion yuan ($2.85 billion).
The local government has invested an estimated 200 million yuan in the infrastructure construction of the industrial park. Tongzhou district aims to promote the prosperity in airport economy and cross-border e-commerce with the support of the park.
