Crabs in Hai'an appeal to visitors
A festival integrating culture and tourism was held in Nanmo town, Hai'an, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Nov 3.
The festival attracted about 1,000 merchants and visitors, who feasted on Chinese mitten crabs and enjoyed several folk performances. Local specialties were also on sale during the opening ceremony.

The aquaculture industry in Nanmo town is highly developed due to the town's numerous comprehensive channels. The town has 6,500 mu (433.33 hectares) of land devoted to breeding crabs and it has successfully eliminated pests.
Crabs from Nanmo town are a registered trademark and are sold around China. The town sells more than 400,000 kilograms of crabs per year, generating nearly 100 million yuan ($14.22 million) in revenue.
Several activities were held during the festival, including a discussion on local culture, a photography competition, and a town tour.
