A total of 30 projects with an investment of more than 100 million yuan ($14.26 million) each were signed off in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, in the first half of 2019, according to the local authorities.
Since this year on, gross domestic production reached 44.85 billion yuan and the general public budget revenue reached 3.99 billion yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 6.1 percent and 4.8 percent, respectively.
The figures showed that per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents rose 8.5 percent. The latest numbers also indicated that profit margins of companies above a designated size – a statistical category referring to businesses with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – have maintained growth of more than 10 percent for consecutive 10 quarters.
Pillar industries in the district are improving their competitive edge in the market. Officials said the cellulose acetate yield in the district now ranks first in Asia and second in the world. A number of high-tech projects, including JD-cloud, have settled in the district to provide further momentum for high-quality developments there.
Officials said that the local government would continue to make efforts to attract investment, formulating preferential policies and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading to raise its profile as the cultural and economic center of Nantong.
