A scientific camp opened at the Nantong University Analysis and Testing Center in Nantong, in eastern Jiangsu province, on July 28.
More than 30 primary school students took part in the activity, during which they tried their hands at various experiments.
The camp aimed to improve children's thinking and their hands-on abilities, as well as team spirit, through especially-designed projects using experiments, according to the organizers.
"There are seven experiments, including making leaf vein bookmarks and amber and using electron microscopy," said Cheng Linlin, a teacher at the camp.
All the teachers at the event came from a science class unit of the education and sports bureau in Chongchuan district.
The unit has planed to cooperate with the university to organize more such activities for local children.
