Rugao promotes garbage sorting

Updated: 2019-07-08

Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has recently introduced garbage sorting bins to help promote garbage sorting among residents.

The garbage sorting bins were jointly introduced by Rugao's environmental sanitation department and Rugao Tianying, an urban environmental service company, in order to raise  awareness of garbage sorting.

The bins can automatically classify different types of garbage, including metals, plastics, paper, glasses, and harmful waste, and then offer points to residents according to the type and weight of garbage inserted. Residents can redeem the points for rewards.

Rugao city has organized a series of activities to promote garbage sorting and raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
