Rugao high-tech zone receives investment worth $1.43 bn

Cooperation agreements on a total of 16 projects valued at 9.8 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) were signed at the administration center in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on June 21.
These agreements were signed by companies and the Rugao High-tech Development Zone, including five projects worth more than 1 billion yuan each and 11 projects worth more than 100 million yuan each.
Projects cover areas such as laser equipment, semiconductor, advanced display, automation equipment, intelligent manufacturing, high-end auto parts, geographic information systems, data outsourcing processing, culture, tourism, and healthcare industries.
Zhang Jianhua, Party chief of Rugao, noted at the signing ceremony that Rugao has always provided first-rate service and preferential policies to investors in order to accelerate the development of the city.
During the ceremony, four companies including Suzhou Quick Laser Technology Co Ltd introduced their projects.
Suzhou Quick Laser Technology will put investment of 1 billion yuan in the zone in laser equipment field, aiming to build a high-tech equipment industrial park, according to Yan Zhangjian, the company's general manager.
Rugao boasts convenient transportation and complete infrastructure, which is ideal for investment, and it is expected that sales revenue of the project will reach 6 billion yuan within six years following completion, added Yan.
