"The old paint workshop smelt terrible, but after the renovations I no longer smell that disgusting odor, even without a mask," said Zhang Jianyun, who has painted cars for over two decades for a car service company in Gangzha district.
The environmental protection department of the Gangzha Economic Development Area has been carrying out renovations for all local vehicle paint workshops since 2018.
Every vehicle paint workshop must be equipped with environmental protection equipment such as air purifiers and activated carbon filters and meet national emissions requirements to reduce air pollution.
All 72 4S auto stores and maintenance companies in the Gangzha Economic Development Area, including 48 who provide painting services, have installed pollution reduction facilities.
Next, the development zone plans to increase regulations on the disposal of other types of hazardous waste and used batteries.
