Hai'an, Nantong, in eastern Jiangsu province, held a key conference on May 25 on innovation and entrepreneurship -- to attract investment and science, technology and services projects to come and settle in the city.

According to local media reports, over 600 experts, professors, academicians from universities and scientific research institutes and many entrepreneurs were invited to attend the conference.

At the conference, Hai’an signed contracts for 10 talent projects covering environmental protection, electronic chips, precision moulds and other fields with colleges and universities at home and abroad.

It also signed off on 10 academician workstation projects with 11 well-known academicians; inked 10 original achievements projects; as well as signed contracts for 10 projects on key science and technology service platforms.

Gu Guobiao, Party secretary of Hai'an, said at the conference that Hai'an will continue to promote comprehensive reform of the city's scientific and technological ecosystem.

It will also carry out an in-depth three-year plan to enhance the innovative ability of enterprises, promote construction of relevant service platforms, promulgate and implement more preferential policies to provide good policy conditions for business innovation -- boost reforms and innovation to effectively stimulate development, and bring in more talented professionals in order to promote development.

Since 2014, Hai'an has successfully held five similar events for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Officials said the scope for cooperation has become wider, and a large number of scientific and technological projects had settled in, providing strong impetus for sustainable and healthy development of the local economy and society.
