Reading initiative bears fruit for people of Rugao
Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province, has in recent years promoted reading for all its residents -- and the city was recently listed as a demonstration city for its move to promote reading.
To ensure that more get involved in reading, the city has undertaken a number of initiatives – including building more bookstores and small libraries, setting up electronic newspaper reading monitors, promoting digital libraries and organizing multi-type activities related to reading.
Officials said the move is bearing fruit and the city is now seeing more and more people take to their books.
