Updated: 2019-03-20

Cole flowers are currently blooming all over Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, attracting beekeepers from far and wide.

Liu Wentao, from Heze city in Shandong province, is one of the beekeepers that has recently traveled to Rugao.

It is his fifth year there, and prior to Spring Festival he had traveled to Yunnan, Jiangsu and a number of other places with large areas of flowers in bloom, taking more than 100 beehives with him.

According to Liu, with good weather and plentiful flowers, he can earn 120,000 yuan ($17,882) in one year by selling honey and propolis.

More than 50 families in Liu's village keep bees for a living, raising local living standards.
