Good news for Nantong residents who are or will be involved in an international marriage came from the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangsu province on Feb 13.

The civil affairs bureau of Chongchuan district in Nantong has been authorized to offer marriage registration service for Nantong residents and their spouses who are foreigners, overseas Chinese or residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. The service will become available on Feb 20.

Prior to this service, people could only apply for marriage certificates at the provincial civil affairs department in the provincial capital Nanjing, causing considerable inconvenience for these couples.
