A delegation visited Jiangsu Huaxia film restoration company in Rugao, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Jan 17, to discuss a possible partnership with the company.
Delegation members included Jack Lechner, a filmology professor from Columbia University in the United States, and directors and students from Shanghai Film Academy of Shanghai University.
The group viewed collections housed at the company and examined some of its restoration equipment, with many delegation members asking technical questions about restoration work.
Many members of the group were amazed by the group's collections of hundreds of thousands of precious films, film projectors and accessories, and documents.
Following the visit, the two sides reached an agreement on the restoration of films and established a research center for Shanghai Film Academy at the company.
The company will help to repair some classic cartoons produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, and the academy will support the company's restoration work.
The new research center will be set up in Rugao to train more individuals in the art of film restoration.
