An exhibition of photographs opened at the municipal palace of culture in Nantong on Dec 18, in a bid to demonstrate the achievements that have been made by Jiangsu province since China's reform and opening-up in 1978.

The exhibition is divided into several areas focusing on the dramatic changes that have taken place in the local area and the ways in which people's lives have changed.

The photographs were selected from more than 5,000 contributions from workers and labor unions.
