NETDA launches Jiangsu's first bonded semiconductor maintenance

A shipment of semiconductor wafer cleaning equipment from Busan, South Korea, arrived at Saimi Technology's plant in the comprehensive bonded zone in Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, on Aug 28.

The equipment will be maintained and upgraded there, marking the first bonded maintenance operation for such equipment in Jiangsu province. The operation is expected to handle six to eight units a year, with annual trade exceeding $10 million.

The company also plans to expand into maintenance for more types of core semiconductor equipment, which could raise annual foreign trade to more than 500 million yuan ($74.48 million). That would help lower operating and maintenance costs for integrated circuit manufacturers across the Yangtze River Delta region.

The operation is carried out under the customs bonded maintenance policy, allowing overseas equipment to enter the zone for servicing and upgrades before being re-exported for sale. Saimi has end-to-end capabilities for maintaining and upgrading 8 and 12-inch high-end cleaning equipment.

In addition, Saimi's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is connected to the customs platform, so all steps, including entry, repairs, parts replacement and re-export, can be declared online. The zone's smart monitoring and electronic customs clearance have cut processing time by 30 percent, reducing logistics costs and freeing up cash.
