NETDA's industrial strength draws university talent and tech projects

Nanyong Science and Technology Innovation Fund, a university-backed initiative in Jiangsu province, unveiled its investment strategy, pledging to foster the commercialization and growth of Nanjing University's premier research outputs in NETDA.

Shi Yi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and dean of Nanjing University's Institute of Future Technology, said NETDA is home to leading local companies such as Zhongtian Technology and Tongfu Microelectronics, which provide strong support for young innovators. "Nanjing University's research is closely aligned with Nantong's industrial needs," he said.

The university also plans to tap into its academic expertise, alumni network and innovation funds to collaborate with Nantong enterprises on key technological challenges, improving university-local-industry collaboration.

The same day, the NETDA Cup roadshow took place, during which a ceremony awarded funding to 14 projects. The selected projects span emerging fields including new materials, biological medicine, optics, precision manufacturing and energy storage, showcasing NETDA's efforts to commercialize research and upgrade industry.

Since its launch in 2018, the NETDA Cup has held about 30 sessions in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, attracting close to 200 projects to NETDA.
