It is the latest generation dual-fuel car carrier in the Aurora series under Norway's Hoegh Autoliners, a global leader in shipping, and is ordered and operated by the company.
The series comprises 12 globally leading car carriers, all constructed at the Haimen base of CIMC Raffles. Hoegh Rainbow is the eighth in the series and the first one completed in 2026.
The length of this series of ships is 199.9 meters, with a molded breadth of 37.6 meters and a capacity to carry 9,100 vehicles under full load.
The series bears the Norwegian DNV classification society's "ammonia ready" and "methanol ready" notations, making it the first kind of clean car carrier in the industry capable of using carbon-neutral fuels.
