A new ecological greenbelt, located on the north of the embankment of the Yangtze River in Qidong – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – opened to the public on July 1, adding luster to the city's 178 kilometers of riverbanks and coastline.
As the largest riverside and coastal ecological greenbelt in the city, it represents a high point in Qidong government's implementation of environment protection. It is also expected to contribute to beautifying the city and benefitting the lives of residents.
In the wake of its official opening, it instantly became an online sensation because of its stunning field of sunflowers, attracting thousands of tourists.
Covering over 200 hectares, the greenbelt is comprised of three main precincts for admiring the fascinating views in the central area and around the area, as well as for leisure. The forest oxygen bar, wetland cultural area and bird conservation area enable visitors to enjoy the beauty of nature.
