The tourism sector in Nantong is expected to see a recovery this summer as students start their vacations in late June and travel restrictions due to sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks are lifted.
In addition, a series of policies and measures have been implemented in the city to help boost the sector's growth.
For example, the Chongchuan government has launched a policy where, based on the days of suspension during the epidemic, 10 percent of ticket revenue during the same period in 2021 will be subsidized for the district's A-level scenic spots (excluding State-owned scenic spots).
The Nantong Forest Wildlife Park received a subsidy of 2 million yuan ($298,783) from the Chongchuan government, easing financial pressure caused by the park's closure, said Wang Fei, chairman assistant of the park.
The Golden Beach Scenic Area has received just over 50,000 tourists since its reopening on May 1, a significant decrease compared with the same period last year, said Wang Ning, director of the Tourism Development Bureau of Yuantuojiao Resort.
To increase passenger flow, the Yuantuojiao Resort is adding new tourism projects. The Golden Beach summer tourism promotion event was unveiled on June 16 to launch different types of travel products in an effort to offer tourists a beautiful holiday experience.
