Qidong, a county-level city administered by Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been working to build an ecological landscape belt along the Yangtze River, the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea.
In 2020, the government of Qidong made a decision to enhance its 178-kilometer coastline with an investment of more than 2.2 billion yuan ($345.99 million).
By 2025, the 178-km coastline of Qidong will feature the Yuantuojiao Resort, the Golden Beach Wetland Park, Changtai Coastal City, and Tongzhou Bay Lyusi Port.
A number of pilot projects, such as the 55-km riverfront restoration project, the 26-km demonstration section of the most beautiful coastline and Binjiang Forest Park covering an area of 3,117 mu (207.8 hectares), are currently underway.
The construction of a 115-kilometer highway along the riverbank of the Yangtze River is also underway. It plays an important role in connecting scenic areas, industries, towns and villages along the coastline.
