Qidong in East China's Jiangsu province has been included as a county-level city candidate for the list of 2021 China's Happiest Cities, according to local media reports.
The happiest domestic cities selection has been held for 14 consecutive years, selecting more than 80 happy cities in total.
Hosted by Oriental Outlook magazine and the think tank Liaowang Institute, which are both run by Xinhua News Agency, the selection evaluates cities nationwide based on a variety of indexes that span education, healthcare, resident incomes, employment, transportation, and leisure.
This year's edition will be carried out through big data collection, questionnaire surveys, material declarations, field research, and expert reviews.
The results will be released in October.
