More than 30 children and parents attended a reading event in Bihai Community in Qidong's Yuantuojiao on July 17.

The reading event included activities such as recommending a good book, visiting a characteristic industrial base, exploring a unique craft and learning about a village's history. Participants also took part in other activities such as a talent show, a painting session, and a quiz.

Yang Xiajin, a teacher of a reading club, read a story about a young hero on the event.

The children also painted and performed poem recitations in the community multifunctional activity room, winning applause from the audience.

The event came to an end with a sign language song performed by Yang and the children.
