The official signing ceremony took place on Jan 8 for the new Marriott DELTA Hotel to settle in the Yuantuojiao Resort in Qidong, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province.

The hotel will be designed as a new seaside landmark for culture and tourism in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.

The Yuantuojiao Resort, located at the intersection of the Yangtze River, Yellow Sea and the East China Sea, is billed as the first place in the YRD region where people can greet the sunrise.

US-based architectural and engineering firm HOK is in charge of the design of the Qidong Marriott DELTA Hotel, which will cost 600 million yuan ($92.6 million) and have a total floorspace of 53,000 square meters.

The design will be people-oriented, with elements of the Nantong Jianghai (river and sea) culture integrated into the look, to achieve a harmonious balance between people, architecture and the environment.

As one of the most prestigious hotel management groups in the world, Marriott seeks to showcase an aspirational and fashionable lifestyle. DELTA, Marriott's high-end full-service brand, currently operates 49 hotels with 30 under construction in the world.

It follows the tenet of "simplicity makes perfection" and aims to provide modern travelers with truly practical facilities and services, presenting an abundance of choice.

The arrival of the Marriott DELTA Hotel will not only bring Qidong a richer international choice of lifestyle in culture, tourism, business, leisure and entertainment, but will also greatly enhance the image and reputation of the city, promoting the rapid development of the regional economy.
