The ionic liquid production project operated by Ldet (Jiangsu) New Materials Technology broke ground in the Jiangsu Rudong Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong county of Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Aug 18.
It is expected to become the largest production base for ionic liquids in China, able to produce 29,800 metric tons of ionic liquids annually, along with 150 tons of lithium chloride and 100 tons of lithium bromide as by-products.
This project will promote the green and intelligent manufacturing of the zone's ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers and lithium battery separators. Ionic liquids will also serve as the safe core of solid-state batteries produced in the zone, becoming a powerful engine driving regional green transformation and high-quality development.
Ren Xuhua, chairman of Zhejiang Ldet Energy Technology Development, the parent company, said that Ldet will expand operations in Rudong and gather talent, making every effort to build an ionic liquid industry ecosystem and create a research and manufacturing mecca with global influence.
