On Dec 10, the W1# berth of Phase I of the Jinniu Terminal at Yangkou Port in Rudong successfully passed its hydraulic engineering inspection, marking a significant step towards the project's official completion and commissioning.
Once operational, the terminal will primarily support the development of the adjacent industrial zone and contribute to the new equipment, new energy, and new materials industries at Yangkou Port.
As a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the transportation capacity of Rudong's industrial port, the terminal is located in the shallow waters at Yangkou Port. It is expected to house 13 50,000-ton berths, with a 3.7-kilometer shoreline and supporting facilities for a 50,000-ton inbound shipping channel.
The first phase of the project involves a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan ($316.03 million), with plans to build two 50,000-ton general-purpose berths and one 50,000-ton multi-purpose berth designed to handle an annual throughput of 4.08 million tons. The W1# berth is a 50,000-ton general-purpose berth measuring 273 meters in length and 42 meters in width, with a top elevation of 9.5 meters.
Yang Fan, the project's on-site production manager, explained that the terminal is equipped with a 40-ton single-arm gantry crane. In addition to meeting the transportation needs of the Far East Cable project, the terminal will also handle large heavy cargo and bulk goods on a daily basis.
