Yangkou Port welcomes first LNG vessel of 2024
On Jan 2, the PetroChina LNG terminal at Yangkou Port in Nantong, Jiangsu province welcomed the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel of 2024, Grand Elena, registered in Cyprus. The vessel unloaded 65,700 tons of LNG, which is enough to meet the daily gas demand of 200 million households.

Nantong's maritime authorities have made great efforts to facilitate the successful operation of LNG vessels. Prioritizing safety, the traffic command center and the port and shipping dispatch center have enhanced communication with meteorological agencies, pilotage units, tugboat services, and docks.
In 2023, the two centers successfully safeguarded the navigation of 79 LNG vessels, handling a total of over 15 million cubic meters of LNG–enough to fulfill the annual gas consumption requirements of more than 50 million households.
