The first phase of Jinniu Wharf at Yangkou Port commenced construction with a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan ($315.71 million) on Oct 25.
The project is set to include the construction of two 50,000-metric-ton general-purpose berths and one 50,000-ton multi-purpose berth. The wharf's designed annual throughput capacity is 4.08 million tons, and it will also feature complementary onshore storage yards, roads, production facilities, and other auxiliary projects.
Once completed, this wharf is expected to drive local industrial growth and attract more significant projects to the area. Already, it has drawn the attention of several high-end offshore equipment manufacturers, including Far East Cable, Jusheng Heavy Industry, and Yongda Heavy Industry.
Xu Dongjun, standing deputy head of Rudong country, said Rudong has consistently promoted port development. On the 3-square-kilometer Yangguang Island, the county has already established eight berths and attracted four major energy infrastructure projects.
