The first phase of Tongkun Group's factory in Yangkou Port, Rudong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province is currently being constructed.

With a total investment exceeding 20 billion yuan ($2.76 billion), the first phase includes eight sets of polyester spinning equipment and two purified terephthalic acid (PTA) facilities. The entire project is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year, with projected sales to exceed 20 billion yuan.

The factory is the largest production base constructed by Tongkun Group nationwide. It entered partial production in December 2021 and achieved sales of 8.46 billion yuan in 2022.

Aiming to develop the Rudong factory into a green and low-carbon facility, the group utilizes cutting-edge technologies which enable the oxidation and subsequent hydrogenation of p-xylene to produce PTA, effectively shortening the production process, conserving energy, and recovering waste heat and pressure for power generation. The PTA production unit is expected to generate about 80,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per hour, shifting from a power consumer to an electricity supplier.

Tongkun Group is also intensifying efforts to make progress in the second and third phases. The 12-billion-yuan second phase is aimed at expanding production capacity, while the 5.5-billion-yuan third phase focuses on processing the polyester filament produced in the other two phases and is expected to achieve 10 billion yuan in annual output value.
