A strategic cooperation agreement was signed on April 21 in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, regarding the supervision of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers and offshore wind power installation ships.

This agreement will support the development of Nantong's coastal LNG and offshore wind power industries.

"This agreement not only meets the development needs of Rudong's Yangkou Port and offshore wind power industry, but also strengthens maritime safety management,” said a representative from Rudong maritime safety department.

The agreement was signed by several organizations, including the Nantong maritime safety bureau, the China Classification Society Nantong Office, PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Co Ltd and Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co Ltd.

Nantong has 23 wind farms along its coast, making it the largest offshore wind farm cluster in Asia. The PetroChina LNG terminal at Yangkou Port has been in operation for over 10 years and has received more than 600 LNG tankers. Three new LNG terminals are expected to begin construction soon.
