Micro-short drama industry flourishes in NETDA
The Nantong Micro-Short Drama Week took place in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in August, marking the launch of four industrial bases. As of now, the area has gathered nearly 40 enterprises related to micro-short dramas.
Courthouse, bank, hospital, and other professional filming sets have been completed at Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park in NETDA.
The micro-short drama market in China has experienced rapid growth. Latest data shows that in 2024, China's micro-short drama users reached 662 million, with industry revenue surpassing 50.44 billion yuan ($7.09 billion).
Since 2023, NETDA has been developing the Nantong Digital Culture (Video) Industrial Park to high standards, attracting leading companies like Mango TV, Phoenix TV, and Lohua Chip-display Technology Development Co.
Almost 40 projects focused on display technology R&D, content creation, broadcasting platforms, and the integration of traditional video industries have been launched, creating an initial cluster effect.
During the 2025 Nantong Micro-Short Drama Week, NETDA revealed a plan to create 1,000 high-quality short dramas in Nantong. At present, more than 20 top-tier micro-short dramas are either being prepared or filmed at the industrial park, including a themed drama based on the Jiangsu Football City League.
