Nantong original dance competition kicks off

The final of the 2025 Nantong original dance competition was held at the Theater of NETDA in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) on July 4, during which performers dazzled audiences with their technical brilliance and emotional artistry.

The event, divided into community and professional divisions, attracted nearly 900 participants from dance companies and community groups, who presented 54 original choreographic works.

Community performers celebrated Nantong's rich cultural traditions through diverse folk expressions, while professional artists pushed creative boundaries—blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with innovative spins on local culture, including movements inspired by Nantong's iconic Banyao kites, a national intangible cultural heritage item.

As Nantong continues to develop its cultural infrastructure, the city remains committed to nurturing dance talent and creating platforms that will elevate its distinctive local cultural expressions to national and international stages.
