Polyplastics opens new factory in NETDA
The opening ceremony for Polyplastics (Nantong) Co Ltd, an engineering plastics company receiving a total of $561 million in investment, was held in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area on Dec 16.
The company plans to produce 180,000 metric tons of polyoxymethylene (POM) engineering plastics annually, making its factory a world-class facility. The company's factory is being built in two phases, and it will be the world's largest and most energy-efficient production base for POM engineering plastics.
POM is one of five major engineering plastics. Known for its high resistance to heat and corrosion, it is widely used in electronics, automotive components, construction materials, and medical equipment.
Polyplastics Nantong is a wholly foreign-owned enterprise jointly established by Japan's Polyplastics Co Ltd and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Trading Inc, two global leaders in engineering plastics manufacturing. Since 2001, Polyplastics has made NETDA a strategic base for its global market expansion, having already established two other companies in the area—Polyplastics Trading and Polyplastics Manufacturing.
