Construction of electronic paper component production base begins in NETDA
The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area commenced construction on an electronic paper component production base on Aug 28. The base is backed by Jiangsu Chuangye Optoelectronic Technology Co Ltd with a total investment of 2 billion yuan ($281.99 million).
The base will feature six-generation line for thin-film transistor (TFT) components, with an annual capacity of 12 million TFT components. Once it reaches full production, its annual output value is expected to exceed 6 billion yuan.
Electronic paper is a paper-like display technology that utilizes reflected ambient light for visibility. It is more easily readable, reduces visual fatigue, extends battery life, and consumes less power for static images. The paper is widely used in applications such as e-ink displays, e-readers, and electronic tags. In electronic paper end products, TFT components serve as crucial pixel switch elements, with their electrical performance, stability, and yield being of utmost importance.
The base will play a significant role in enhancing NETDA's new-generation information technology industrial chain, optimizing its industrial structure and serving as a positive example and catalyst for growth.
