NETDA technology patents win national award
The patent for a new sewage treatment method designed by Nantong Xingchen Synthetic Material Co Ltd won the Award of Excellence at the recent Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention and Industrial Design event held in Beijing.
The sewage treatment method solves technical problems related to the removal of hazardous substances from wastewater and is critical to improving the competitiveness of the Chinese polyphenyphenyleneoxide industry.
The technology is expected to reduce material and electrical usage by 50 million yuan ($7.42 million) every year, according to authorities.
The award, which is conferred by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) every year, is the highest governmental award for inventions in China.
A total of 30 patent gold awards, 10 design gold awards, 792 patent awards of excellence and 52 design awards of excellence were given out this year.
Two patents for the single mode fiber production mode by Zhongtian Technology Group also won awards at the ceremony.
The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu has in recent years been making efforts to improve intellectual property protection. A total of 2,175 patents were registered in the area from January to June, a year-on-year increase of 30.1 percent.
