Sci-tech helps NETDA on epidemic prevention, control front

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or  NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – has fully exploited its know-how in scientific and technological innovation, to help it ensure effective epidemic prevention and control.

Since February, a total of 191 security cameras have been used at quarantine sites, nucleic acid testing stations, major roads and expressways in the NETDA. The cameras' signals are connected to the city's headquarters for COVID-19 response, to monitor the risk of the virus spreading and other risks.

At the same time, with the help of patrol drones, a real-time understanding of population density and road conditions has been realized.

From March 30, a location code – a location identification QR code for people to scan before entering, so a person's whereabouts is easy to trace – has been adopted in all NETDA public spaces. It is said to have significantly improved the precision and effectiveness of local epidemic prevention and control work.

In addition, in response to surging requests for help from locals, the NETDA has optimized the administrative process of its government affairs service platform. This has prioritized appeals, reports and feedback on problems related to epidemic prevention and control.
