The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – held a special working meeting on Feb 28, to examine its future path to reassigning premium and high-demand land for resident businesses.

The NETDA started a three-year program to reallocate its best space – now in high demand – and to make the most efficient use of it last year. According to Zhang Jianhua, secretary of the NETDA's Party working committee, the area did a great job in this field in 2021.

The area last year vacated inefficient enterprises and repurposed their land for advanced projects and industries. In so doing, it moved to help achieve the aggregation of the NETDA's leading industries in the new generation of information technology, high-end equipment, medicines and health and new energy.

Moreover, the integration of production areas, living areas and ecological areas was further optimized, Zhang said.

This year, plans are for the NETDA to remain focused on the three-year goals in space restructuring. This includes reallocating 466.67 hectares of industrial land and 133.33 ha of commercial land – and eliminating the inefficient use of industrial land by vacating enterprises with pollution and safety issues.
