The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA, located in Nantong city, East China's Jiangsu province, plans to put intelligent and digital transformation as its top priority for the current year to elevate the development of its leading industries to a new level.
The NETDA aims to build eight intelligent demonstration workshops above municipal level and add more than 60 intelligent technology transformation projects this year.
In March last year, with the support of the NETDA, the new "lights-off warehouse" of Luolai Lifestyle Technology Co Ltd was put into use, opening doors to further intelligent production of the enterprise.
Lights-off factories are highly automated factories that make use of robots in their production line, requiring less light and possibly less people.
"The shelves of the warehouse are as high as 24 meters. The forklift – after receiving instructions – will find the corresponding goods by itself relying on the intelligent induction system," said Yin Jie, the head of finished product operation of the enterprise's warehouse logistics center.
He mentioned that due to full intelligence, the cargo capacity of the warehouse is three times that of manual warehouses, and the operating efficiency is five times that of manual ones.
The NETDA is promoting the development of cloud computing, 5G, industrial internet and other technologies, formulating plans, issuing policies, and awarding demonstration measures to speed up the construction of intelligent workshops throughout the region.
