Nineteen major projects involving a total investment of 27.6 billion yuan ($4.33 billion) were signed in the fourth quarter of 2021 in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or the NETDA – located in the city of Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province – according to local media reports on Dec 4.

Zhang Jianhua, secretary of the Party working committee of the NETDA, delivered a speech during the signing ceremony.

Zhang said that the NETDA had fixed a target to build a first-class development zone with the most competitive advantages in the Yangtze River Delta region, which would be characterized by the modernization of leading industries – including the information technology, high-end intelligent equipment, biomedicine and new energy sectors.

To date in the current year, it's reported that the development zone has organized six major activities, including centralized signing and construction groundbreaking ceremonies. In the first three quarters of the year alone, some 54 new industrial projects with a total investment of 45.6 billion yuan were signed, 19 of them worth over 1 billion yuan.
