The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in the city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – held the finals of the 4th NETDA Nengda Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on Nov 28-29, according to local media reports.

To date, the preliminary round selection and competition has lasted seven months and been held in four cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nantong. After two rounds of competition, 18 projects entered the finals, and finally nine projects won the first, second, and third-place prizes.

Thirty projects related to the electronic information, high-end equipment, and medicine and health industries competed on a level playing field. The winning projects of each heat then gathered in Nantong to compete in the finals.

The winners got the chance to set up operations in the development zone and benefit from policy support.

The event was meant to attract top innovation and entrepreneurship resources and recruits with outstanding innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities.

Zhang Jianhua, secretary of the Party working committee of the NETDA, said that the first round held in Shanghai was expected to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two cities. As a result, more gifted individuals from home and abroad would innovate and start businesses and make outstanding achievements in the NETDA, he added.
