Major production plant opens in NETDA

A new mold design and equipment manufacturing plant built by Japan's TOWA Co Ltd -- the world's largest supplier of semiconductors packaging equipment – was officially opened on Nov 12 in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA in Nantong.

The plant is one of the largest investment projects set up in China by the Japanese group and it is being operated by a unit of the company, TOWA Semiconductor Equipment (Nantong) Co Ltd.

It is also understood to be the first mold design and equipment manufacturing base established overseas by TOWA and is expected to play a positive role in promoting the development of the semiconductors industry in the zone.  

The plant will reportedly work on refining the company's products, save energy and reduce consumption and carbon emissions -- among other things -- so as to realize safe, green, low carbon, high-quality and efficient production.  

TOWA Semiconductor Equipment (Nantong) Co Ltd was established in October 2018 with a total investment of $80 million and registered capital of $30 million.

 The new plant is located in the west section of Donghe Road in the development zone. It is on a site covering 55 mu (3.67 hectares) and has an annual design capacity for output of 50 sets of semiconductors packaging equipment and 200 sets of molds.
