In recent years, the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – has reportedly prioritized improvements to its people's lives and their employment.

It's also strived to deliver the best services it can for residents, according to local media reports on Oct 9.

That's understood to be in pursuit of a better future for the region, with the latter seen as the best way of boosting the former.

By August, a total of 2,826 Party member volunteers in the development zone had left the office to provide services for locals and help them solve their practical problems. The average serving time of the volunteers was 7.17 hours, ranking it second in Nantong.

This year, the volunteers helped 100 economically challenged students realize the pursuit of their education dreams – and the team members' efforts have expanded to eight countries and nearly 3,000 people.

Over the past five years, the total targeted donation funds have reached tens of millions of yuan and over 2.5 million yuan ($387,608) of materials have been donated, helping 4,800 students – in Yushu, Qinghai province and Chenggu, Shaanxi province – fulfill their education dreams.

On the service front, progress is being made. The development zone is reportedly making full use of achievements made in the construction of so-called smart courts – or 'internet courts', which utilize advanced online technologies.

This is expected to explore a new path in door-to-door litigation services, to help residents get through the last mile of litigation service accessibility.
