NETDA targets sci-tech innovation projects
In the first half of the year, the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA – located in the city of Nantong, in East China's Jiangsu province – reportedly targeted the development of sci-tech projects and achieved marked success in their commercialization.
During the period the NETDA signed up 36 new science and technology innovation projects, with existing projects reportedly achieving breakthroughs and the zone's foreign direct investment ranking first in Nantong.
The NETDA is understood to have identified the new-generation information technology, high-end equipment and medical and health sectors as its core industrial clusters, which will support its long-term development.
Statistics showed that in the first half of the year, the output value of the NETDA's high-tech industry came in at 35.1 billion yuan, up 32 percent year-on-year, while a group of 10 enterprises there were selected for the provincial "Special New Little Giants" list.
It is understood that the NETDA also takes sci-tech development as a critical standard for project evaluation. It reportedly evaluates and scores each project in terms of their technological level, industrial status and propensity for high growth, so as to strictly control the quality of science and technological innovation.
