The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – based in Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has been bolstering the development of its local new generation information technology, or IT industry.
Since 2016, the zone, in line with the strategic goals of Nantong, has built up an industry supply chain in the field and promoted a new generation of information that is based on its own conditions and choices for economic development.
Within the NETDA there are 58 enterprises above a designated size – companies with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.09 million) or more – and their products mainly involve integrated circuits or IC, optical communications, optical fiber and cable, electronic materials, mobile phone accessories, automotive electronics, software and information technology.
From January to July this year, the local IT sector's taxable sales reportedly topped 30 billion yuan.
Taking ZTT Fiber Optic Co Ltd as an example, the resident company owns a number of scientific research institutions, such as the optical fiber technology research center and the Zhejiang University and ZTT joint laboratory.
In terms of its future plans, the NETDA will boost its investment promotions and investment selections, vigorously develop its 3D industry, as well as its IC and energy storage ventures and accelerate the formation of new electronics materials industry supply chains.
