The month of June this year marks 20th National Safe Production Month – a widely observed event whose theme is "implementing safety responsibilities and promoting safe development".

The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – marked it by holding a Safe Production Month activity for the housing and urban-rural development sector.

This was launched at the construction site of the Alibaba Jiangsu cloud computing data center project in the area on June 5.

A virtual reality intelligent safety experience pavilion has been set up at the site. Using its simulations, visitors can experience dangerous scenarios that can occur during the construction process via VR googles and acquire prevention awareness and knowledge of emergency measures.

As the city is about to enter its hot and rainy season, accidents can easily happen in the housing and urban-rural development sector.

That spurred the NETDA to launch the activity, in a bid to raise awareness of safety in construction among all the ongoing projects in the area.
