In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, locals in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or the NETDA – in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – are reportedly no longer satisfied with the basic necessities of food, clothing, housing and transport, but have higher material and other needs.

In the wake of the establishment of the new leadership of the Xinzhu sub-district in the NETDA, a total of 61 measures covering improvements to the quality of life there have been handled by officials, according to local media reports.

However, a number of antisocial incidents have still occurred in the community, including objects hurled from high buildings, owners not following the rules for keeping their dogs and bad parking of electric scooters – indicating that things still need to be done.

The Xinzhu sub-district has responded, by issuing well-considered admonitions to curb antisocial behavior through the distribution of pamphlets on the rules. It has also seen to it that convenient chairs are installed in the corridors for residents, without compromising fire-safety passageways and helped out residents, so they no longer need to park their scooters in a disorderly fashion.
